Mehandi Styles 1
The art of Mehandi varies greatly in different religions and cultures. This post will help you be able to recognize the different variations. The main styles are as follows:
Typically Traditional Indian Mehandi covers more of the hand than the more popular Arabic designs. Common symbols include paisleys, peacocks, Checks (called The Game), and circling designs called waves or ripples.
Arabic Henna designs can be very similar to Indian/Pakistani styles. Generally Arabic styles include more flowers and do not cover the entire hand. The may also include many paisleys and ripple designs.
African designs tend to be simpler and more geometric. They use mostly straight lines.
I will update this post as I learn more about the different designs. Any comments or corrections are appreciated.
